Quick Q & A

Q. Do your sessions qualify for Medicare or Private Health Insurance rebates?

A. Unfortunately rebates are not available for our services at the moment.

Q. Where are sessions held?

A. We have meeting rooms available in Crown Street, Wollongong. However, a lot of our meetings are held remotely via Zoom, meaning we can work with you, wherever you are located!

Q. Can I bring a support person with me to a session?

A. Yes that is fine, but there may be some issues you would feel more comfortable talking about with no one else in the room. We will always remind you of this choice if/when we touch upon particularly sensitive topics.

Q. How does couples therapy work?

A. We start by meeting you together, and then as appropriate may have some individual time as part of the session or arrange separate meetings with each person. If you share something with us while your partner is not in the room, we will not disclose what you have shared to the other person without your consent.

Q. How many sessions are usually needed?

A. This depends on whether you need help resolving an immediate issue, or want to do some more long-term work. To help resolve a current personal or work issue, we recommend 3 sessions together. To work on deeper personal or work issues, 5 to 10 sessions is a reasonable expectation. Some people opt for very long-term therapy, seeking to address a whole range of issues in their personal and family life – in which case more than 10 sessions may be needed.

Q. Do you prescribe drugs?

A. We are not authorised to issue medical scripts. You will need to make an appointment with your GP, who may refer you to a psychiatrist, depending on your medical history and personal situation.

Q. What is your policy regarding confidentiality?

A.  All contact and sessions at our practice are strictly confidential, and we will not  release any information to third parties without your express written consent.

Q. Do you accept referrals?

A. Yes, subject to confirming a good fit via the 20 minutes introductory meeting.
